Botanical prints

18/05/2015

I’ve been having such fun with a project I’m currently working on in a beautiful Arabian Ranches home. Whilst there was nothing particularly wrong with the state of things, the owner was eager to give the downstairs living and dining room a little refresh – just to change things up a bit and keep things, well, fresh. And that’s precisely what we are doing. The living room has a huge corner sofa that is begging for statement artwork above it so I have been on the…

Art by Camilla Hind

06/05/2015

I was introduced to the lovely Camilla Hind towards the end of last year when she and I worked on a fun Christmas styling collaboration with two other bloggers. You know how you sometimes meet a person and you know instantly that you’re going to like them? Well, Camilla is one of those people – aside of simply being delightful to be around, she is one super-talented-multi-tasking-mama of two. For our collaboration project, she played the role of photographer, but Camilla is also…

Typo Dubai // GIVEAWAY

24/04/2015

Let’s have a show of hands for all the stationery lovers out there! … yup, I’m feeling you guys. If you’re anything like me, and the mere mention of stationery gets your heart racing a little (and somewhat awkwardly) faster than necessary, then you need to know about Typo. Australia’s favourite gifts and stationery brand has not only arrived in the region, but they’ve opened the Middle East’s first flagship Typo store at Dubai’s fabulous new Boxpark retail complex. As…

The Bowery Company // Giveaway

26/02/2015

The Bowery Company is a newly launched, Dubai-based online store that offers a growing collection of what they refer to ‘affordable luxury furniture with an industrial edge’, and frankly, it’s a perfect description. Think old world New York meets contemporary Scandinavian style and you’ll get an idea of the direction this unique new concept is taking. It’s a breath of fresh air, and with plenty of metallics on offer, I was very easily wooed. Here’s my take on a few must haves. I only wish…

Watercolours by Elicia Edijanto

13/01/2015

all images copyright Elicia Edijanto I recently discovered the work of Elicia Edijanto, the talented Indonesian artist behind these exquisite black and white watercolours that depict children interacting with wild animals. I love the melancholic mood of the images and the sheer innocence of the children who seem oblivious to the potential danger of the enormous animals they’ve befriended. Quite enchanting, really. I found Elicia’s work at drawdeck.com, where you can purchase these prints. Her Instagram feed is also well worth a look.

Au Prints

25/09/2014

As you’ve probably realised, metallics are very much on my radar. My Pinterest feed is shinier than usual and its not even Christmas yet. I recently discovered something so pretty and unique, I just had to share. Let me take you back to high school (early nineties, anyone?) and see if you can recall which precious natural resource is represented by the chemical symbol Au? It’s gold, of course! Aptly named Au Prints offers a set of prints with gold ink manually…

Line Kay, stylist & photographer

04/09/2014

It has to be said that the old inter web can be a bit of a time vacuum. And I think it’s been around appropriately long enough to be called ‘old’ now. I mean there are twenty-somethings out there who would NEVER have known everyday life without it. How bizarre is that?! I’m showing my age now. But seriously, hands up anyone who sits down to quickly look for something online, gets distracted by another thing, and boom, two hours slip…

Favourite Things: Au naturel roundup

01/09/2014

As we bid au revoir to yet another month, it’s time for our next Favourite Things roundup. This month’s edition is a follow-on from my post on natural decor. These fabulous pieces of furniture and accessories will help create a calm and neutral ambiance in your home. 1. I raved about this pendant light and similar oversized cotton beauties here. This lamp radiates beauty and simplicity. The frame is made of bamboo and a very fine handwoven cotton. Did you know that bamboo is a renewable…

  • Who even knew a plywood cabinet could look so beautiful!? Or that there 2 IKEA besta frames hidden below those fronts, sides and top?? Its a @fronteriors magic trick! 🧙‍♂️🤭
  • Our second @fronteriors product shoot is happening in two parts this week and we’re beyond excited to share this new batch of fronteriors products with you! You’ve all seen and loved the BILLY cabinet with cane doors, but now you get to meet his big brother – a wider, deeper and all round sexier cane cabinet made up of two BESTA frames supported on our custom metal leg frame. Two cane doors, two sides and one top complete the look of what is probably one of our personal favourite combinations. Stay tuned for more sneak peeks later on this this week.

  • Lazy Saturdays.... for some.
  • We've got double doggie trouble around here for a few days as Pep's sister, Jessie, is stay with us while her humans (also our humans) are in South Africa.
  • Waking up to music is a good way to start the day. Although Pepper's not still not sure what's happening in here when the beat drops... 😂 there's always a frantic little bark like someone's coming for her. Cray cray pup!

  • Around this time last year I was working on a secret makeover project for Kaitlyn's bedroom. She went to school with much resistance on the morning of her birthday and came home to a different room. The reaction was priceless! But seriously, where has a whole year gone? #timeflies #kidspo
  • Loved seeing this room we designed last year featured over at @mintymagazine today. Despite it being a little over a year ago, it seems like a lifetime ago. Makes.you realise how much happens in a year and how quickly it goes.
  • That time we kitted all the @houseofhawkes smalls out in the cool new @piupiuchick collection from @martin_and_ella - I think it was one of the last mornings that you could be outdoors without actually melting, so I guess it was well timed. ☀️🔥🕶🤩

  • Say hello to my new toy, the B&O M5 wireless speaker.  She’s busting out the tunes whilst ticking all the aesthetic and audio quality boxes, looking ever so pretty amidst this re-styled corner of my bedroom. She’s destined for our holiday home in South Africa this summer (we’ve been on the hunt for a good wireless speaker for some time), but in the meantime I’m really enjoying having music in our bedroom again. I think my last source of audio in the bedroom was a clock radio!! Er, who remembers those?

In other news, the hubster is at an event this evening and I’m about to pop my podcast cherry (true story!) and I’m looking for recommendations, please. I’m yet to download a single episode, if that’s even what we call them, but I’ve got the audio situation on fleek. Kids and neighbours may be listening in too! I’m a strong case for the term ‘all the gear and no idea’, so please indulge me with your suggestions with what’s good in the podcast arena. I want to get tonight’s party started.
