I’m in absolute awe of the work of Mario Marino. The Austrian born portrait photographer has been capturing fascinating human subjects in their native environments for some fourteen years. Not surprisingly, his work is exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.
Wowzers, it cat believe its Friday – and basically the end of May too! Is anyone else completely stunned that we are almost half way through this year? Remember those days as a kid, when a year felt like a lifetime. Sigh….those really were the days.
So, on the subject of kids, my roundup for this month features some of my favorite pieces for little boys’ rooms.
Hi folks, it’s been a busy two weeks around here and I haven’t managed much time on the blog, but I’m making time today to share another awesome find with you. It’s really hotting up in Dubai and with the summer holidays almost upon us, I bet many are already dreaming of picturesque escapes and good vacay vibes. Here’s a little something that’s sure to get you in the mood… A few weeks ago, I spotted one of Gray Malin’s amazing…
Reconciling your Pinterest-perfect dream home with the reality of rented accommodation can be a bitter pill to swallow. Trust me, I know. I’m an old hand at this, and as an expat living in Dubai, I know that I am definitely not alone. Landlords strive to create a neutral space with mass appeal, which usually results in a uniform palette throughout the house and zero personality. The good news, however, is that there are many easy and affordable…
I’m ridiculously excited to share today’s treasure with you, but before I continue, can I just say, ‘what it is with the Scandinavians and their design talent?’ Is it just me, or is anyone else wondering whether its possible for a natural gift of this kind to form part of an entire region’s genetic code? Just a thought…. as I remain in awe. On that note, there really is no containing my heart-fluttering enthusiasm for Love Warriors of Sweden. A dynamic collaboration of four…
You’ve probably realized by now that I love discovering new design talent (who doesn’t?), so I’m pleased to say its been a good week in that regard. Today I’m showcasing my latest find: Alex Latimer – an illustrator, writer and picture book maker living in Cape Town.
One of the items on my long to-do list is to sort out my living room. The wall that our TV sits against has a whole bunch of empty space that needs to be filled and I’m considering a gallery wall. I’ve seen so many inspiring images online but they all have a mismatched, almost haphazard style which is one of those things that I love to admire in other people’s homes but I’m not entirely sure my A-type personality will survive it on a daily basis.
Wow, it’s Thursday again. It’s been a quiet week on the blog thanks to a few of other projects that have me spinning like a hamster on a wheel in the background here. I hope yours has been a good one so far.
Today’s topic is nursery decor – something that is, very sadly, almost all gone in our home. My daughter will need to upgrade to a ‘big girl’ bed soon and with that, all traces of her baby room will no doubt be gone. Sob. But for anyone who’s yet to embark on this fun adventure, it seems criminal not to introduce you to Sharon Montrose’s Animal Print Shop. I only wish I had known of this woman’s truly incredible work five years ago.
