DIY this Valentine’s Day

14/01/2014

I can’t believe that Valentine’s Day is only a month away. We only just got through Christmas and New Year and it’s already time to start thinking about the next holiday. In our household, Valentine’s Day was forever postponed by a week when we welcomed our baby boy into the world on 14 February 2009. In an attempt to keep his special day ‘all about him’, my hubby and I agreed that from then onwards, we would keep…

Announcing Chase | Baby boy stationery & wall art

05/01/2014

As if Christmas week wasn’t exciting enough, our extended family was recently blessed with an adorable new arrival. My cousin, Ryan, and his beautiful wife, Stacey, welcomed their firstborn – a bouncing baby boy – into the world just a few days before Christmas. They named him Chase Clarke Patterson. Love it! Welcome to the world, little guy. Could you be any cuter? Ryan and Stacey visited Dubai a few months ago and I got to spend some…

A little lady is turning seven

20/11/2013

I have only just started out on this blogging adventure and already it’s been almost a month since my last post. I am sure I should be getting to this more frequently. Oh dear. Safe to say I’ve been a busy little bee since Halloween and I’ll tell you why in a few separate posts to follow (shortly, I promise), but for now, I wanted to share something pretty. The daughter of a dear friend of mine is…

Halloween printables to DIY for

29/10/2013

I can hardly believe its that time of year again. Our neighbourhood is abuzz with Halloween excitement and spooky decor – its such a fun time for the kids…… and ahem, some adults too. That said, we live in a community that is really culturally diverse and alas, Halloween and all it’s tricks is not for everyone. I’ve always thought that a little note or sign at the door is really helpful for parents and kids to know,…

Printable Christmas gift tags

06/10/2013

I’ve been working on some goodies for Christmas and thought that I would share these printable Christmas gift tags with you all. I hope you like them. You will need: Cardstock of at least 180 gsm Single hole punch Ribbon, cord or embroidery cotton I tried both cotton and cord for my examples above, and whilst I think the cord has a nicer feel (less floppy), I love how the red cotton picks up the touches of red…

Announcing Ava

27/09/2013

Living away from your home country and family can be really difficult at times. It didn’t seem that bad when we first arrived here possibly because (A) living in a new and exciting city was still somewhat of a novelty, and (B), I hadn’t yet had kids. So it’s not at all surprising that I’ve found it increasingly challenging since the arrival of my children, who sadly, don’t get to spend much time with their extended family, especially…

Are you ready for Christmas?

23/09/2013

There’s nothing quite like receiving a card in the mail. And by mail, I mean good old-fashioned ‘snail mail’, the hand sorted and delivered kind, not an e-card in your Inbox. In this age of technology and electronic lifestyle, I agree that its difficult not to take the easy route, but if there is just one time of the year that’s worth going the extra mile for a personal touch, it would have to be Christmas… that is…

She makes our world a whole lot nicer…

14/09/2013

My daughter came into this world on the morning of 3 July 2010, and she really has been making our world a whole lot nicer since that day. I saw a quote to this effect on a scatter cushion and thought that it would make a really cute print for wall art in a nursery or kids bedroom. There were so many options for the ‘main’ word in the quote. I considered ‘making this world a whole lot…

  • So enjoying early walks and slow mornings with the kids - and ever conscious that there are so few mornings like this left before its back to school and work and busy routines. Savouring it all. We decided to go Dutch for brekkie this morning with some pancakes made from @woolworths_sa gluten free ready mix. They were delish!! Do yourself a favour and get some. Also, while you're spoiling yourself, find someone who looks at you like my kids look at pancakes.
  • So glad I went with dark lower cabinets in this kitchen. I realised this morning, as we were packing for a quick trip to Zuka, that I've posted barely any pics of #hawkesholidayhome since I've been here. Such a weirdo. Happy Saturday y'all! .

  • Impromptu sundowners this evening with @sweetsecrets.dubai and co. Beaut!
  • I arrived in South Africa with a laundry list of things I wanted to do / get done while I was here. Anyone want to attempt a guess on how many of those things I've actually accomplished? ... anyone?

  • This might just be the scene of an afternoon nap. Let's see...
  • So many beautiful and inspiring homes to see on my morning walk. I just love the pretty creeper on this wall. And I hope the owner doesn't find me super creepy for admiring it ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜Š
  • Quite possibly my favourite corner of #hawkesholidayhome
  • I can't believe we are already on the downward slide towards the end of summer. I've still got some time left in South Africa, but my head is back 'home' in Dubai as @liveloudgirl and I are in full planning mode for our next @fronteriors release. This is my favourite cabinet in the current collection - can you guess which IKEA frames are behind it? And do you have a favourite?

Ps: have a peek at the other looks for this frame on my stories
  • Treated myself to a little spa moment at @laura_channing_spa this morning. Still high-fiving myself for that smart decision. This little gem is a literal 3 minute walk from our front door and yet it always feels like I've escaped somewhere far away. The setting is so pretty and the service is amazing. It's an amazing perk to staying at #hawkesholidayhome
