In 2018, after more than 12 years of living as expats in Dubai, we purchased a holiday home in our beloved South Africa. Affectionately known on my social media account as #HawkesHolidayHome this three bedroom apartment in the beautiful Dunkirk forest estate is our ‘home away from home’ and a vacation haven. Having grown up on the Kwa-Zulu Natal north coast, I spent many childhood holidays in Salt Rock and we feel really grateful to be able to offer a similar experience our our Dubai-born children. 

After purchasing the property, we fully renovated and furnished it in true House of Hawkes style – a project that we managed remotely from Dubai. The renovation journey was documented both here on the blog and on my Instagram page.
