Last week I styled a nursery scene in a photoshoot for a baby brand. It was a wonderful project to be a part of, and as always, I had such fun sourcing decor pieces. I got my first up close and personal look at the exquisite rugs from Australian brand, Armadillo & Co.
I had noticed the rugs on Instagram and heard great things about them from a friend and fellow blogger, but this was the first time I’d actually got to see and feel them for myself. I have to admit that despite how pretty they look in pictures, I wasn’t convinced that they would be soft enough for practical use in kids rooms. Rest assured that any and all doubts were quickly erased the minute I got my hands on one. Made from varying combinations of hemp and wool, the rugs are amazingly soft and comfortable.
I am particularly taken with their Junior collection but the brand offers an extensive range for grown-up spaces too.
I was impressed to learn that the company, owned by Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst, wholeheartedly embrace Fair Trade practices, crafting all their products from sustainable natural fibres including pure wool, jute, cotton and hemp. Furthermore, all purchases benefit schools in the Indian villages of their weavers. I do so love a company that has a feel good factor over and above its aesthetic genius. And I absolutely loved this fitting quote from their website: We aim for our rugs to lie lightly on this earth.
UAE residents, you can get your hands on this goodness from local stockist, The Corner Shop.
