We’ve recently completed some work for a stylish bachelor in his contemporary new apartment. To be honest when we first saw the home, we weren’t entirely sure why he had contacted us. Let’s just say we’ve been called in for spaces needing a lot more ‘help’ than this one. This client has excellent taste but was struggling with narrowing down his choices and sticking with a style. After a thorough consultation, we helped him hone his desired aesthetic and got to work with the required changes.
A few things had to go, but we worked around many pieces that he already had. One such piece was the grey West Elm Eddy sofa which we love (and had used in this stylish living room), but we adapted it to the new monochromatic direction by replacing the wooden legs with black metal ones. We also kept the round marble dining table and a dark blue arm chair, both pieces that the client was very fond of. Some of the shiny new pieces that we added to this living space were the gorgeous Gubi coffee table, Muuto dining chairs, the beautiful Formakami rice paper lanterns from &Tradition, new scatter cushions, a pretty unique white hide rug, Vogel Nguni coat hooks and a new TV console with a custom marble top.
One of the challenges in this living room were the electrical boxes that were the first thing you saw when you entered the apartment. But with a precisely measured gallery wall we managed to cover them seamlessly and changed the whole look and feel – and we really loved the result of this hallway transformation. The walls got a subtle coat of light grey colour with Jotun’s Twilight – a trusted old favourite that’s given the whole space a fresh-faced overhaul.
