It’s been a while since I’ve had a home tour on the blog so when I saw a friend’s gorgeous Downtown Dubai apartment, I had to show you guys too. Welcome to the beautiful home of Karen Wandrag, fellow South African and founder of DESIGN K. I recently had the pleasure of working with Karen on a design project, but more on that in due course. For now, let’s focus on this beautiful space.

A qualified engineer and talented artist, Karen has lived in London, Australia, and for the past six years, Dubai. She spent twelve years working in the industry before making the leap to start her own company. In her own words: “My move into interior design stemmed from a deep yearning to express my artistic passion and desire to combine the skills I learnt in the corporate world with my creative flair for design and decor. It was a slow process with lots of learning along the way, but deeply satisfying and fulfilling”.  Karen’s home was recently photographed and featured by Natelee Cocks – yet another awesome talent from the homeland. 

Looking at these images it is clear that Karen has an affinity for design and décor, and that she loves to create. Most of the artworks featured below were all done by her. She has an instinctive feel for spaces and a natural ability to visualize and create soothing surroundings. A love of white and neutrals is evident throughout this light-filled home.
