Interior must haves

With an influx of new decor beauties from our favourite online interiors retailers, we find ourselves wanting to hit ‘add to cart’ on pretty much all of them. So we thought we would share a couple of these stunners with you. Have a look at what is currently on our radar at House of Hawkes:

01 Showcase your favourite greenery by elevating them in this knockout plant box. You probably worked hard to keep those babies alive, so you might as well show them off.

02 Looking for something modern to dress up your walls? Artwork is such an important element, it sets the tone for your spaces and reflects the personality of the people who live there. If you don’t own one of these abstract prints by artist Jan Skácelík, you seriously need to ask yourself why not?!

03 Light plays a vital role in creating an ambiance that caters to the mood of a room, so create a cozy and intimate living room with the help of this strikingly beautiful lamp.

04 A perfect solution to allocate space effectively in an oversize room or open plan space. Not only functional but also great as a decorating focal point. Room dividers offer privacy, boundaries and aesthetic elements all without altering structural components of a space.

05 This vessel is seriously stunning, and could effortlessly pass as a stand-alone shelf accessory when it’s not occupied by plant life.

06 Not only does this accent chair provide additional seating, but it is the perfect way to introduce a new color and silhouette to any room.

07 This small sofa sidekick can add major style to your space, side tables should not be put on the design sideline. Perfect if you just need a space to put down a cuppa.

08 Breathe life into old sofas or neglected bed with this dashing scatter. Such a quick and affordable way to spruce up a room.

Be sure to let us know your current favourites

  • On a scale of wardrobe envy from 1 to 10, I'm clocking 25 as I witness the first installation of @fronteriors cane doors for PAX wardrobe frames at a client's home. I think we have reached #ikeahack level 100!

  • Happy National Day to the UAE!
This beautiful country has been our home and playground for 14 years. When we first arrived, we partied at Scarlet’s in Emirates Towers and spent weekends at the beach, often watching touch rugby on the open beach area (that is now the gardens of the Westin). I had the pleasure and privilege of working for the formable powerhouse that is @thenfd at The Grooming Company, during a time when she was pioneering the grooming industry in this region. Springs townhouses were just being handed over, there were only a handful of completed buildings in the Marina and JLT was an architectural plan. The Burj Khalifa was rising from foundation level, there was no Terminal 3, no Downtown Dubai, no Canal, no Business Bay crossing, no Salik tolls or any Metro lines to be seen. The old Garhoud bridge was a three lane affair that would bring traffic to it’s knees and closed to allow large vessels to pass. We feel really lucky to have seen this incredible city grow and develop to the iconic destination it is today.
We’ve had our ups & downs, but overall, this country has been amazingly good to us. Both our babies were born here and no matter where we might land one day, this will always be ‘home’ in their hearts.
PS: these pictures were taken by @nateleecocks sometime last year in the midst of a full-blown sandstorm. Nat, I’m still chuckling at the fact that we just carried on regardless!
After this bit of Dubai nostalgia, i forgot to mention something and now I’d really LOVE to hear from anyone who also remembers when @ikeauae was a small retail outlet in Deira City Centre mall!?? #UAEnationalday #spiritofthenation #mydubai #itsbeenawhile

  • We wrapped this nursery up just in time for baby's arrival. Like literally just in time. And we found some beautiful pieces from new suppliers. More on the blog soon.

  • It's such fun having our @fronteriors cabinets to play with in the new studio. We tried this new combination of beige slatted doors with black hardware and it's a beauty - particularly in front of the marmorino wall by @jotunpaintsarabia | Swipe through to get a closer look. This cabinet is built using 2 x BESTA 60x128 frames that are screwed together and supported on a custom leg frame. Add 2 x slatted doors, 2 x sides, 1 x top, 2 x handles and.... voila!

  • Throwback to sleepy mornings in South Africa this past summer, which of course was winter over there. And now its starting to feel much the same over here. Switching ACs off and opening the doors and windows feels like a re-awakening after Dubai's looooong summer! Anyone else loving this time of year?
