Some projects tend to lead to other projects, as was the case with this client. After the living room makeover in this same apartment, we were asked to assist with something quite unique and certainly new to our portfolio – a piano room. The space was already partially decorated when we stepped in to help – and since this particular client has a great eye for design and detail, he had accumulated a few key pieces that were to remain in the room. The piano, of course, but also a perfectly worn-in brown leather arm chair purchased years ago, an iconic photographic print of Naomi Campbell and a super stylish, not to mention suitably retro drinks trolley.
Our challenge was to pull the room together with a distinguished and refined vibe, akin to that of a moody cigar lounge. We also had to source and accommodate a small but stylish desk that would complement the style of the room, not only in colour but also in size. Having looked around in the market, we weren’t successful with the specific dimensions required, so we opted for something custom made. The result of our desk design was so good that we almost had to pry it from the hands of our carpenter who was eager to keep it for himself.
Knowing that our client would be comfortable to have us push him somewhat out of his usual comfort zone, we didn’t run with a black and white feature he requested, but instead proposed this rich and lush greenish-blue wallpaper. Thankfully, he loved the result. In fact, it’s safe to say that he is thrilled with the overall outcome of this space and we have to admit, so are we!
