Greenify your home with fresh or faux

Greenery roundup

Using greenery to spruce up a room is like adding accessories to an outfit, without them you look fine, but throw on some clever additions and you look fabulous. In a world dominated by concrete and glass, indoor plants and fresh flowers offer a welcome change and giving your home a natural green tinge definitely has plenty of perks. Adding a plant to a room is arguably one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to give a space a new lease on life without any major changes.

As you probably know, we are big fans of greenery around here and we thought we would help you get your green on by putting together a roundup of some of our favourite botanical beauties. As we are approaching the summer months, when many Dubai residents travel for a few weeks at a time, we’ve focused this round-up on more faux than real plants, but we can assure you that for all the faux options listed below, the live equivalents can be found at Dubai Garden Centre.

01 The Fiddle Leaf Fig tree has been one of the “it” plants for quite some time and it is still going. But this finicky plant tends to get a bit temperamental, so if your green thumb fails you, fake it with the faux fiddle from IKEA.

02 One of my all time favourite indoor hanging plants, String of Pearls (Senecio Rowleyanus) looks as good in a hanging pot as it does styled on the edge of a bookshelf.  Get the real deal for yourself from Dubai Garden Centre or Habitat.

03 The robust Snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata) or Mother-in-law’s tongue works in favour of your wellbeing, despite it’s less-than-cuddly nicknames, as it gives off oxygen and filters toxins, making it a handy air purifier. This sword like foliage can survive the most unsuitable growing conditions, abuse and neglect, making it the perfect companion for the forgetful gardener.

04 The Monstera deliciosa is a fan-favourite for it’s large-scale statement foliage. Put a few leaves (or just one if it’s large enough) in a vase and you are good to go.

05 Add a tropical flair to any space with this very realistic looking faux Strelitzia plant from Bloomr. Available in 3 different sizes, it’s a perfect style statement.

06 Cacti are popping up in living rooms and bedrooms all over the internet. Not only hot on trend but an excellent choice for anyone looking for a low maintenance indoor houseplant.
