School has wrapped for the year and this household is officially on holiday. Picture me doing the happy dance!

The Dubai summer, with its scorching temperatures and long days of kids being cooped up indoors, is not for the faint hearted. Last year, we braved the entire school break here and I pretty much swore I wouldn’t do that again if I could help it, so the kids and I are off to the homeland in a few days. We are so looking forward to spending quality time with the extended family and friends, but I would have to admit that a good dose of cooler weather is probably the most exciting aspect of the trip for me right now. South African winters are beautiful and I plan to savor every moment of the whole boot-wearing-fireside-lounging experience. Sadly, my hubby can’t join us for much of the trip, but such is the life of an expat family.

As we’ll be moving around quite a bit, I suspect we may frequently be without internet connection – a little circumstance that I am not entirely devastated about. Updates to the blog are likely be a little thin on the ground over the coming weeks but I promise to check in on occasion and will certainly make up for my absence with a home tour, or two, that you won’t want to miss.

There’s not much that could beat this uninteruppted view of the African plains. I’m really excited to show you more of this exquisite bush home while I am away.
