I have only just started out on this blogging adventure and already it’s been almost a month since my last post. I am sure I should be getting to this more frequently. Oh dear. Safe to say I’ve been a busy little bee since Halloween and I’ll tell you why in a few separate posts to follow (shortly, I promise), but for now, I wanted to share something pretty.
The daughter of a dear friend of mine is going to be celebrating her birthday this week. I have known this sweet little girl since she was born and I can scarcely believe that she is about to turn seven. How did that happen? It feels like just yesterday that she was one of the very first arrivals in what quickly became a whole rugby team of expat brats amongst our circle of friends… and I say that with much affection.
Jacqui, who will soon be launching her own blog (watch this space as we will soon be linking up a storm), asked if I could help her out with a design for Brooke’s birthday invitation and a few matching bits and bobs for the party decor. As I sat down to tackle the design, it dawned on me that as a very mature almost-seven-year-old, she’s actually, very sadly, too big for anything that might look remotely babyish. When Jax then told me that there would be mini manicures at this girls-only soiree, I knew I had to change my design mindset from ‘little girl’ to ‘little lady’. Gifted with her mum’s impeccable style, I had something in mind that I knew the birthday girl… and her mum… would both love. The brief was simple: pink and pretty.
Here’s what I did.

I had such fun putting this pack together and I can’t wait to see the party all set up. I have no doubt it will be buckets of fun for Brooke and all her friends.

Have fun, girls!
