I don’t know about your household but there is a fair amount of bribery that goes down in ours. In fact, I like to think of it less as bribery and more as an apropriate reward system. The kind that keeps things running smoothly around here (sound convincing?) And whilst I am quite strict when it comes to my kids’ consumption of sweets, I am a firm believer in incentivising good behavior.
The bottom line is, I’m not above the occasional use bribery in those ‘pick your battle’ moments.

The ‘bribes’ are simple: do as you’re told without a fuss and you’re in for a reward. Skittles are the reward of choice in our house and they’re handed out one at a time. Of course, I had to make a custom jar for this purpose.
I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one using this method… right, peeps? Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. For those of you who are on this team, I’ve created a free printable for your secret bribery jars.
Download the printable sheet here. Unless you’re the Von Trapp family, it contains way more labels than you’ll need 😉
Tip: If your kids have different favorites, you could customize individual jars with a ribbon around the neck.
It’s the start of the weekend here in Dubai and we are in for a busy one. I’m grateful for the distractions as I have two miserable smalls who had to bid farewell to their Ouma (that’s the Afrikaans name for granny) yesterday after a month-long visit. We’re starting with my gorgeous niece’s birthday party tomorrow. Her grandparents are in town so it will be a fun event with lots of family around. You may recall my post on Ava’s birth announcement, which feels like yesterday – I can’t believe she’s turning one already! I’ve been helping with the stationery and decor for her party and hope to feature it soon.
Happy weekend!
