We had so much fun decorating this room for the sweetest toddler. Her mum has incredible style and had already purchased almost all of the items in the room so she called on us to help her style it in their beautiful new home. We usually shy away from projects that require styling only as it’s difficult to put your stamp on a space when you have to work only with what already exists, but in this case we were happy to assist an existing customer whose taste and style we were already familiar with.
The spacious room wasn’t lacking any furniture or accessories, but it was in need of a bold statement piece – something we introduced with that magnificent and dramatic floral wallpaper from Ellie Chashman Design. Inspired by the still life painters of the Dutch Golden Age, this talented artist has created a range of wallpapers, cushions, fabric and scarves that transport you to a bygone era. Mixing this wallpaper with modern, minimalist designs brought a really interesting aesthetic into this space. We love the simplicity of the white Sebra baby and toddler bed in front of this paper, and the luxurious Numero 74 linen canopy compliments the bed with a soft, feminine style.
Another item that we included in the room was one of our new favorite products – a washable rug from the Lorena Canals collection that, by the way, will soon be available locally from The Bowery Company. These rugs are ideal for kids room as they provide a soft play surface and can be cleaned with minimal fuss. We made effective use of the client’s IKEA NORDLI drawers and a sweet house shelf to provide plenty of storage and display space. Two Vee Speers prints (personal favourites of ours) fitted perfectly with the room’s colour palette and quirky style.
