Yesterday I got a peek at an almost finished boys room that is a result of an e-design I completed a few months ago. It’s always so exciting to see a design come to life and I thought you guys would enjoy having a look at a mood board along with it’s end result. Excuse the not so great pic taken on my phone.
This room was designed for a little tot who will soon transition from a cot to a big boy bed, so the brief was to incorporate single beds. Mum was eager to get the room finished even before the change happened, but as you can see, it’s already looking fabulous, even with the cot still in place.
For the wall colours, I recommended Jotun’s Platinum (grey) and Skylight (white) – a winning combination in my books. The Cactus and “Kids are all right” posters are Miniwilla favourites, available locally from MarMarLand, as are the Ferm Living toy bag and arrow flag, and the Burrow&Be geo bat blanket. The rug was nabbed on sale at Pottery Barn Kids (sadly no longer available) and the cool light fitting is from old faithful, Ikea. The funky pull light hung on an Ikea bracket is from Typo.
I was reminded again why e-design is a such a great option. This particular client has an amazing sense of style and all she really needed was a bit of a jump-start and some fresh ideas. Like so many expats, she and her family are in a rented home and didn’t want to spend a fortune on decorating rooms that the kids may not be in for very long, so the budget was tight. Luckily, I love a good challenge.
As is often the case, this mum made some small tweaks and changes to the original design and I’m so impressed with how it’s looking. With almost everything in place, we tried a few different options with the styling and I had great fun helping her pull the room together.
I’ll be sure to give you a look at her other two kids rooms soon.
