You may recall a few months back how I was raving excitedly about plans to move into our own place and embark on a renovation project. We had big plans for a new Hacker Kitchen and redesigning the bathrooms and I shared mood boards for these spaces here and here… and then there was radio silence on the topic.
I realised that some of you may be wondering whatever happened with that so I thought a little update was in order.
To cut a very long and miserable story short, we had trouble with tenants who wouldn’t vacate the property and we’ve had to resign ourselves to renting for yet another year. Sadly, our plans to move in and renovate are on hold indefinitely. Aaargh. It pains me to even say it.
It’s been an extremely frustrating waste of time, money and emotion. But, as we prepare to see in the new year, we’re determined to look on the bright side and may even be feeling excited about finding a new place to live. Who knows what we may find. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on developments with this.
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you the amazing Hacker kitchen that was very nearly ours. I had planned to document the entire project here on the blog and it was definitely the kitchen transformation that we were most excited about. Despite the fact that this is no longer happening, I wanted you to see why we were so excited.
Isn’t it lovely?
Having to pull the plug on all our plans has been a bitter pill to swallow. We had spent countless hours working on the design details with our very patient design consultant at Hacker, who has become a friend in the process. In fact, all the folks at Hacker Kitchens were extremely understanding of our situation and I remain hopeful that we will be able to make it happen one day.
For now, the hunt is on for a new House of Hawkes HQ. Stay tuned.
Before I go, I wanted to wish you all a happy and prosperous 2016 and to thank you for your support of my blog. It’s been such a fun journey thus far.
