Guys, it’s such a weird and crazy time in the world right now. I trust that no matter where you are, you are keeping safe and looking after your loved ones. And I hope that this bright and airy room reveal brings a ray of sunshine your way in these uncertain days.
One of our recent clients reached out to us because her bedroom needed a detox and a much-needed refresh. With a busy work schedule, it was something that has been on her ‘to-do’ list for some time, but she reached a point of just needed to get it done ASAP and called on us for help. Her brief was straight-forward, however, there was a catch, the project had to be wrapped up within 2 weeks as her parents were coming over for a visit and she needed the room ready before their arrival. Our vision was to give her a little oasis, somewhere calm to escape to at the end of the day, a bright, spacious, and uncluttered space. An area without excess or visual interruptions.
The room is not particularly large, but flooded with natural light and by using a subdued colour palette of earthly tones, we managed to expand the space visually. One of the key elements of the design was to incorporate highly functional yet minimal and aesthetically pleasing storage solutions. We installed the PLATSA wardrobe configuration from Ikea to provide plenty of storage and a cosy seating area. In addition to this we opted for a storage bed from Home Centre, both stylish and affordable, turning the otherwise obsolete area beneath the mattress into an organised storage space. The porcelain table lamp was another fabulous find from Home Centre – and a favourite piece for our client.
We added textural detail with a rust throw and statement cushion from H&M Home. As everything else in the room was more neutral and pared back, we selected a gorgeous patterned rug from Pan Emirates, adding colour without overshadowing the sense and tranquility. Inclusion of natural elements was a request in the brief, so we sourced this oak nightstand and chest-of-drawers, both from The Loom Collection. We love the warmth that these two pieces bring to the space. Last but not least – artwork. The subtle abstract digital artwork from Hearts in Color blends in elegantly with the rest of the area and the piece above the seating area – the only item that remained from the original room – was something very dear to our client, so we made sure to keep it in the design and just re-worked it with a new frame.
We love the end result of this room and we’re so happy to hear that she is enjoying it too.
