Marina Home Interiors was one of the first interior stores that caught my eye when I moved to Dubai in 2005. I remember wanting to buy everything in the store. And over the years that followed, I worked up quite the collection of their furniture and accessories. Safe to say I’ve been a fan for some time, so when they approached us to style a Christmas shoot last month, we jumped at the opportunity.
Marina’s Woodland Dreams collection of festive décor and accessories showcases a mix of earthy materials and shiny surfaces in the form of ornaments, figurines, wreaths and foliage with tones of silver, birch, grey, black and blue. Having looked at the collection, we were immediately drawn to the blue tones and opted to style a Christmas setting that embraced this less apparent but trending Christmas palette.
We loved the idea of the raw wood table and chairs against the moody blue wall (Jotun’s Deco Blue) with foliage hanging from above – where we mixed natural greens with striking blue faux leaves. For all of the styling, from the table to the tree and the console surface, we stayed true to simplistic roots and kept things minimalist with a subtle rustic twist. We particularly like the addition of the layered rugs and dark glassware in this scene.
This colour palette of Marina’s Woodland Dreams collection offers plenty of scope for styling a home in your own way – from an elegant and classic look to a more dramatic and moody theme – the options are endless. We had such fun pulling together a scene that took us out of our comfort zone.
