Just before the #stayhome status quo kicked into gear, we were about to launch some new additions to the Fronteriors range of doors for IKEA frames. Unfortunately, the shoot we have planned at our office-cum-studio had to be cancelled due to everyone working from home, but there was no stopping us from launching the new linen doors that we were so excited to show the world.

Following the popularity of our cane doors, we wanted to consider some alternate options for this look that is so close to our hearts. I think that everyone loves a beautiful textile and linen was something that had been on our minds for a long time – in fact, we considered this material for our first collection, when we first starting to look around at materials for our range. At the time, we settled on a melamine finish which gave the look of linen across the full surface of a door. And whilst we do still have this option in the range for its unquestionable practicality (think easy care, wipeable surface), we found that we were still lusting after ‘the real thing’. It seemed there was an itch to scratch, and so we did.

Fast forward a year and we have finally got this look into the production line. With the studio shoot on hold indefinitely, it seemed only sensible to get the product shot in our homes. Naturally, I volunteered for this one because I was desperate to get my hands on the new doors!

Setting up a shoot at home, on my own, is something that I haven’t done in a while. I am so lucky to such an amazing little team and Marli and Charly always make styled shoots more fun. I had to put my big girl pants on, dust off my Canon DSLR and tripod and remind myself of how to do this. Big thanks to Marli for picking up the editing bit.

I can’t tell you how much I love these linen doors. They are the perfect blend of delicate and elegant. I have the beige colour, but we also offer this combination in white with white linen and black combined with the beige linen. More images of the alternate colours will follow as soon as we can get around to it. I’ve used the doors for the Besta 64x60cm frames in my home, but this style is available in all doors sizes for the Besta series, as well as the Pax wardrobe frames and the beloved Billy bookcase.

In the meantime, while we all #stayhome it really is a great time to encourage Fronteriors fans to embrace the DIY concept that this brand is based on and install these doors yourself. I filmed it a little video of my effort to show you how easy it was. Doing this with two people will certainly be easier, but I managed it alone with no issues at all. You can do it!
